Wee Space

So, I promised a story.
You see, a while back, Mr. accepted a promotion that required him to travel 1.5 hr to work and another 1.5 home. Now, I know for you big city folk, that’s a shake of a lamb’s tail and a mass-transit bus/train ride. But here, in the wide-open spaces of the Texas Panhandle, it’s 3 hours of on the road and behind the wheel, half before the sun breeches the horizon and half after he’s exhausted from working all day. This town, that Mr was now working in, boasts a population of barely over 5,000. And I know you know we homeschool. Sooo, you can imagine what kind of a homeschool presence is there – None. Just no way we could do that to our 4, very active kiddos.
After a year of this drive, we made a decision. There is a small town (20k) smack in the middle of Amarillo and Muleshoe (yes, mule shoe). We decided this was a good compromise, I’ll drive 45mins one direction to get the kids to their events and he would drive 45mins the other direction to get to work everyday. Weeeell, after just 10months of us moving to this new town, the company transferred Mr back to Amarillo. What? Yes, really. We put the new house on the market. Just 2 “showings” in, we realized this is a nightmare. NIGHTMARE, I tell you. Keeping the house spotless with 4 kids is the beginning of this nightmare, but then, having to put away school, gather everyone- and by everyone, I mean all 4 kids, the dog, 2 cats 2 chickens and 2 rabbits- because, did you know NO animals can be present during a showing? – gathering everyone and leaving at the drop of a hat = nightmares!
Backing up, during the 10 months we lived in said small town, everyone that we told which house we had bought (small town, everyone needs to know your business), claimed they knew someone or they, themselves were wanting to buy that house but we “got it first”. So, naturally, I felt like the house would sell fairly quickly. Wouldn’t you have? *sigh

Made a decision to buy a travel trailer. Hey, we’ve been wanting one, anyway! Thought we could tough it out for a month or two. Easy, peasy, right? The month or two has passed, along with a few more. We have been in our wee trailer for …. (counting) starting our 7th month. The house has not sold. So, if you know of anyone wanting to buy a beautiful house in big, bad, Hereford, Texas, I’m your girl.
And that’s the story.
